BC Sailing – Safety at Sea OPSC and CPSC classes for Fall 2024 to Spring 2025

We are in full swing with 10 applications for entry received so far. One of the top items will be ensuring that skippers will have the necessary requirements for crew with Offshore Personal Survival Certification (Safety at Sea) complete.

Please see the information below regarding accessing the Safety at Sea Courses in British Columbia for Fall 2024 and Spring 2025.

Priority registration will be provided to crews whose skippers have filed their Application For Entry Race Application Form – Van Isle 360 – International Yacht Race

A list of boats who have applied will be provided to BC Sailing for cross referencing OPSC priority registration.

The appropriate course for 2025 Van Isle 360 participants will be the Offshore Personal Survival Course Offshore (OPSC).  All of the information that people need about the course, including when and how to register, is online at Offshore Personal Survival Course.  Schedules for up to five OPSC classes are posted on the website.

Advance registration is open now for the first of the OPSC classes, which starts on November 30 in metro Vancouver BC.  Skippers who have submitted their Application For Entry can request access to Advance Registration for themselves or their crew by sending an email to sas@bcsailing.bc.ca.

Raku Photo

A quick note on this year’s poster photo that has been uploaded onto Facebook, and hopefully Instagram if I can figure it out. Photo is Raku, skippered by Christina & Justin Wolfe, finishing at Kains Island lighthouse. Congratulations to Christina for earning Rolex Yachtswoman of the year, 2023.

Photo shot by Kevin Mueller from ROUGES, skippered by Theo Arsenault.

Look for more shots of the Raku photo as we begin ramping up to 2025.
