At CSR Marine, we’re acutely aware of the unique relationship between boat owners and boatyard. After all, you have to trust us to take precious care of a major investment, and in many cases, it’s much, much more than that. CSR has a hard-earned reputation for quality, timely repairs, competitive pricing and integrity. To enhance your boatyard experience, we take it several steps further:
Since the very first race, Discovery Harbour has been a safe sanctuary for the fleet looking for current relief in Discovery Channel. Thank you for supporting us all these years. The Rip Tide Pub and the Ocean Point chandlery and boat yard are near the head of the ramp leading to the well appointed shopping mall.
A massive rock breakwater between the Campbell River-to-Quadra Island ferry landing and the cruise ship docking facility mark the entrance to Discovery Harbour Marina. Check-in is at the head of “K” dock.
As indicated on the map, this large, well protected marina has 100 berths with power and water, and 200 permanent berths with power and water for boats from 18′ to 150′ in length, plus 2400′ of side-tie moorage, with 20, 30, 50, and 100 single phase service. Power is also available for boats over 100′. 100Amp, 3Phase also available.
There are showers and laundry facilities on-site. The Discovery Harbour fuel dock has gas, diesel, oils, stove oil, ice, bait, and offers oil changes. A boat yard and travel lift are available as well, the marina is a convenient cruise from Desolation Sound and North Island communities.
The Qualicum Rivers fishing boats operated by one of the trusted guides are the means of transport to and from the Kains Island Lighthouse for the Race Committee. With no dock or float to disembark upon, the members of the RC have to time their step off the bow of the boat onto the rocky shore in the lee of the island in order to ensure that they mak it ashore safely. If you are looking for the absolute best fishing on the west coast of Vancouver Island, contact Rob at the lodge. Halibut, Ling Cod, Chinook and Coho salmon are in season from June to September.

Hester Creek Wines will be providing the wine at the opening reception. Thank you Paul martin for making this a new tradition!
Hester Creek’s grapevines were first planted on our estate in 1968, when Italian immigrant and would-be grape grower Joe Busnardo was looking for the perfect spot to plant the cuttings he’d brought from Italy. There were only a few other vineyards in the Okanagan Valley; he could have planted anywhere. He chose this spot, a sun-drenched, east-facing bench south of Oliver for good reason: it’s the perfect place to grow grapes. Well-draining alluvial soil, sunny days and cool evenings encourage the development of complex and intense flavours; while the warmer temperatures and slope of the bench help the vines avoid the damaging frost that can settle on the valley floor in early spring and late fall.

One of the tightest harbours the fleet gets to snuggle up in is Telegraph Cove. On one side of Telegraph Cove is the historic cottages and whale museum, and on the other side is the new modern motel and RV park. One senses the distinction immediately upon arriving in the beautiful cove. Skippers have ben advised to bring lots of fenders and shoe horns when we start to park the fleet!
Gordie & Marilyn welcome us to Telegraph Cove Resort (Historic side) and Travis and his team welcome us to Telegraph Cove Marina & RV Park on the modern side of the cove. Thank you for having the fleet during our stay, everyone wishes they could stay longer.
Voted one of the ten best “towns” in Canada to visit by travel writers (as published in Harrowsmith Magazine), Telegraph Cove is tucked away on the eastern coast of Northern Vancouver Island in one of the last virtually untouched areas of the North American continent. This tiny sawmill and cannery community was important to the development of the North Island and has a rich and colorful history. From 1911 when the first telegraph operator took up residence in Telegraph Cove this little cove has been a unique part of Northern Vancouver Island.
Telegraph cove resorts takes pride in being able to present it to the general public in as close to the original condition as possible. You’ll love our cozy cabins/cottages along the boardwalk and our campground / RV park in the old growth forest.
