I am located in Victoria, but am willing to travel within reason to participate in practice events.

Please provide any other information/qualifications. (include races you have done, certificates held i.e. Marine First Aid, Restricted Radio Operators License etc. The more information you provide here, the better opportunity a skipper has at evaluating your qualifications. Hi,
I love sailing because of the team work and camaraderie that is needed to be successful. I truly enjoy working in a group setting which is what sailing is all about! I also prioritize safety and staying on the boat above anything else, which helps ensure everyone has a good time.

As for Sailing Experience, I’ve just completed a leg of the Clipper Round The World ocean race – leg 3 across the Southern Ocean. So I have ample overnight sailing experience and managing a large crew with a multitude of different tasks onboard, flying spinnaker, helming, sail trim, etc.

I’ve done most of the VARC (Vancouver/Victoria) overnight and day races – Swiftsure, Southern Straights, Fraser Lightship, Round Bowen etc. I also sail on Wednesday nights with Royal Van on the Martin 242 and various boats on Thursdays nights.

I’ve owned a Beneteau First 285 and also raced it and cruised it regularly.

I’m 35 years old, very active and fit, work in Marketing and looking forward to this race!

As for qualifications, I have OFFSHORE SAFETY COURSE, SMALL CRAFT SEA SURVIVAL COURSE, COMPETENT CREW and my 5,000 mile Southern Ocean crossing with Clipper.

Cheers and speak soon,
Damien

I am a disciplined, willing and able sailor, capable of taking orders and providing tactical input when needed.

I’ve sailed several overnight offshore races (including 1st place team for division in this year’s Swiftsure) in the PNW, as well as a trans-pacific crossing from Gig Harbor to Honolulu on a 36ft Morgan.

I regularly sail in races in the Puget Sound, the California Coast and occasionally in Hong Kong. In my free time I sail anywhere I can find a boat :-).

I consider myself uncomplicated and adaptable, and I truly enjoy working with all the teams I’ve had the privilege to sail with.

I’ll be happy to send you a full resume upon request. Please contact me for any further details or to have quick chat about the Van Isle 360 race. Thanks!

I have done the Van Isle 4 previous times as a watch captain. Boat I have been sailing on does not appear to be doing it this time. I have over 30 years sailing experience. I am comfortable at any position from the bow to helm. I am good at sail repair and fixing most issues on a boat. I have done numerous Swiftsures, delivery down the coast. Lived in Hawaii for many years and did a lot of channel crossings. Heavy air sailing does not bother me. I used to have a 50t masters license but have let it expire. I have also been to the Safety at Sea seminars twice but mine just expired. If I got on a crew soon enough I would be willing to do the course again.

I have participated in whole/part of all of the Vanisles since 1999 (mostly full races). Positions were various: Skipper- MadMax 1999, Occams Razor 2015, and the other Vanisles predominately tac/navigator/helm (Crossfire, Time Bandit, Cassiopeia, Tripp Tease, Serenity). I try to race my laser whenever I can locally in Comox. Have finished on the podium, but still searching for the elusive 1st.

I am a professional mariner working for the past 21 years as a captain in the B.C. Ferries. 50 years old (wow how times fly), and ok fitness wise. Looking for a div 1 or 2 boat/crew who want to have fun winning race legs, with a wee bit of celebrating after! The Vanisle 360 is a great adventure and I look forward to being able to say “I haven’t missed a one after 20 years!”
