Trevor Gibbons of A-Sea marine has kindly donated a lithium Ion Battery and charging system as a prize to be drawn at the end of the race. The battery is a combination start/house battery with 1000cca and 75 lithium amp hours. That’s the equivalent to 150 lead acid amp hours or an 8D battery, These batteries have a built in battery management system (BMS) called never die. The reason for this is if you run the battery down the BMS turns the battery off with 10-15% left in the battery. With a push of a button you can use the power to start the engine. Thank you Trevor for supporting the skippers with this awesome prize.
Since the very first race, Discovery Harbour has been a safe sanctuary for the fleet looking for current relief in Discovery Channel. Thank you for supporting us all these years. The Rip Tide Pub and the Ocean Point chandlery and boat yard are near the head of the ramp leading to the well appointed shopping mall.
A massive rock breakwater between the Campbell River-to-Quadra Island ferry landing and the cruise ship docking facility mark the entrance to Discovery Harbourt Marina. Check-in is at the head of “K” dock.
As indicated on the map, this large, well protected marina has 100 berths with power and water, and 200 permanent berths with power and water for boats from 18′ to 150′ in length, plus 2400′ of side-tie moorage, with 20, 30, 50, and 100 single phase service. Power is also available for boats over 100′. 100Amp, 3Phase also available.
There are showers and laundry facilities on-site. The Discovery Harbour fuel dock has gas, diesel, oils, stove oil, ice, bait, and offers oil changes. A boat yard and travel lift are available as well, the marina is a convenient cruise from Desolation Sound and North Island communities.

Hester Creek Wines will be providing the wine at the opening reception. Thank you Paul martin for making this a new tradition!
Hester Creek’s grapevines were first planted on our estate in 1968, when Italian immigrant and would-be grape grower Joe Busnardo was looking for the perfect spot to plant the cuttings he’d brought from Italy. There were only a few other vineyards in the Okanagan Valley; he could have planted anywhere. He chose this spot, a sun-drenched, east-facing bench south of Oliver for good reason: it’s the perfect place to grow grapes. Well-draining alluvial soil, sunny days and cool evenings encourage the development of complex and intense flavours; while the warmer temperatures and slope of the bench help the vines avoid the damaging frost that can settle on the valley floor in early spring and late fall.

We founded Q Energy Drink in Vancouver, BC a few years ago. With a lot of research and a lot of development, we created an all natural low sugar and low caffeine energy and sports drink that supports overall health and, best of all, tastes great. Our customers are incredibly active, strong, inspiring people. We drink lots of Q Energy ourselves to keep up with them.
Q Energy Drink is better energy that is inspired by naturally awesome British Columbia. With such a huge playground, we all need a little extra energy to take advantage of it. Use Q Energy to ski the mile of vertical at Blackcomb, to achieve a new personal best on the Grouse Grind, to make the most of your yoga session, to ride the waves on an epic day when it is going off at Jordan River, to survive the Lower Crippler, or to enjoy a walk around the seawall. If these places don’t sound familiar, we invite you to visit BC and have a great time in our incredible back yard. But whatever you do and wherever you are, Q Energy is a great choice.
We developed Q Energy to help you do all that and more without compromise. If you’re like us, your days are full. Not only are you being called by the great outdoors, but you have a job to succeed at, a family to love and care for, friends to catch up with and not enough time to fit it all in. You can always use some extra energy, a little boost, or a lift to keep you going, but you don’t want to suffer the hammer blow of a sugar crash or the squeezing headache of caffeine withdrawal as a result. Q Energy is unique because it delivers healthy energy. You can take it without having to regret the whole affair a few hours later. Q Energy is actually good for you.

One of the tightest harbours the fleet gets to snuggle up in is Telegraph Cove. On one side of Telegraph Cove is the historic cottages and whale museum, and on the other side is the new modern motel and RV park. One senses the distinction immediately upon arriving in the beautiful cove. Skippers have ben advised to bring lots of fenders and shoe horns when we start to park the fleet!
Gordie & Marilyn welcome us to Telegraph Cove Resort (Historic side) and Barbara and her team welcome us to Telegraph Cove Marina & RV Park on the modern side of the cove. Thank you for having the fleet during our stay, everyone wishes they could stay longer.
Telegraph Cove Resort Voted one of the ten best “towns” in Canada to visit by travel writers (as published in Harrowsmith Magazine), Telegraph Cove is tucked away on the eastern coast of Northern Vancouver Island in one of the last virtually untouched areas of the North American continent. This tiny sawmill and cannery community was important to the development of the North Island and has a rich and colorful history. From 1911 when the first telegraph operator took up residence in Telegraph Cove this little cove has been a unique part of Northern Vancouver Island.
Telegraph cove resorts takes pride in being able to present it to the general public in as close to the original condition as possible. You’ll love our cozy cabins/cottages along the boardwalk and our campground / RV park in the old growth forest.

Welcome Victoria Spirits as the presenting sponsor for GIN (Gulf Islands Nanaimo) race. Peter Hunt and his team will be creating some spectacular beverages at the VI360/GIN evening at Royal Victoria Yacht Club on June 18th with proceeds going to the support of youth sailing. A modern spirit from a modern distillery. Victoria Spirits was created from a desire to reinvent gin – to make it more complex, to make it sing. And so in 2008, “Canada’s First Premium Gin” was born. Since this launch, our Canadian distillery has been supported by family, friends, and associates (not to mention, one Uncle Bob Blumer), working together to share a love of exceptional spirits, excellent company, and good humour.
What started local has blossomed. Named after its city of origin, Victoria Gin has transcended its roots and is now a truly national brand. It has also broken into the American market along with our barrel-aged Oaken Gin. Despite its success, Vic Gin is still crafted drop by drop, with wild-gathered botanicals and natural spring water, in our carbon-neutral distillery.
We keep it fresh. Without the constraints of history, we have been free to experiment while tipping our proverbial hat to what has come before. Master Distiller Peter Hunt wields his scientific post-nominals in the art of distilling, creating products that are clean, complex, and harmonious. Our distillery now produces a range of small-batch premium spirits and aromatic bitters, all with love and by hand, with our gleaming German copper pot still. Our artisan products walk a fine balance between tradition and innovation, in both their complex taste and unique aesthetic presentation.
We continue to be inspired, to expand, and to share the love. Let’s drink to the story so far. Long live Victoria’s Modern Spirit.
