2007 Cadillac Van Isle 360°
Dave ‘Super Dave’ McCallum – PRO (Principal Race Officer)
'Super Dave' McCallum has come up through the ranks of the Cadillac Van Isle 360 having crewed in the 1999 and 2000 editions, onboard Arluk II & General Hospital respectively.
Dave has a deep knowledge and understanding of the Cadillac Van Isle 360 operations garnered during his stint on the race committee as Logistics Manager during the 2003 and 2005 races. He's also spent many evenings in meetings at the Cadillac Van Isle 360 corporate head offices, in addition to quite a bit of time on the windward amma of the F31
trimaran Redshift.
All this experience has prepared him for what will prove to be the most
high-profile Cadillac Van Isle 360 edition yet - and he's proud of his promotion
to the challenging role of 2007 Principal Race Officer.
Dave lives and sails at Long Lake (Nanaimo) and has two young kids (Noah and
Elise) who will be terrors on the racecourse in about 10 years!
Steve Ellis – Logistics Coordinator
Steve Ellis is a first time player in the Cadillac Van Isle 360 organization and is excited to be part of the team responsible for pulling off this great event.
Steve is a long time Nanaimo resident, and avid sailor who started out in
dinghies back in the Dark Ages. I have raced a couple of versions of the ‘Nasal
Passage’, (Peterson 23 and Catalina 27) and currently own an Ericson 32
‘Diversion’.
Steve is a sensitive new age kind of guy, and cries easily, so please be kind to
the Race Committee!
When not out burning up the race course Steve is busy putting out fires with the
Nanaimo Fire Department.
Bob Davis – Scorer
Bob
(aka Karl) was bitten by the sailing bug many years ago when he spent a weekend
with 13 friends on a 45’ mono hull. Great weather, wind and broken fittings made
the trip most memorable.
Years later Bob became involved with the BC Multihull Society and began
building, cruising and racing local multihulls. For the past 10 years he has
been applying his trade and skills fabricating, fiber glassing, welding, and
racing on ‘Bad Kitty’, Karl Uthoff’s self designed 35 ft. Catamaran.
"I have raced, with Bad Kitty, in many events along the west coast from the local
waters of BC., including the last 4 Cadillac Van Isle 360’s, to the Newport
Ensenada Race."
"This year’s event finds me on a different side of the course as Race Scorer/
Logistics Assistant. I am excited about this year’s fleet and look forward to
working with David 'Super Dave' McCallum and the rest of the Race Committee."
"Watch out newbie’s this race will change your life!"
Don Bonner - Web Guy (finally got my new boat!)

Since I don't do alot of sailing, I'm short macho pictures of me on a sailing
boat. Now I have a bunch of pictures of me in a kayak, however I believe
this crowd considers them speed bumps so that wasn't a good idea either.
While I have been involved in the race since around 1999 it's always been in
an office in front of a computer. This year will be different. I'm
going to be in a crowded Motor Home in front of a computer. Way better man.
Looking forward to a great race and a smooth internet connection all around the
island.
