Nanaimo

The start and finish of the race. Located on central Vancouver Island, Nanaimo with its natural beauty, attractions and activities, is waiting to be explored. Nanaimo is also the only all-purpose port city on Vancouver Island, with every facility required to serve both the commercial and recreational needs of business and tourism.

 

French Creek

French Creek's working harbour is home to a large commercial fishing fleet and many charter operations that can take visitors fishing, sightseeing, and diving. French Creek Marina offers sheltered moorage and yachting amenities for sailboats and pleasure craft.

 

Comox

Nestled between the Beaufort Mountains and the Strait of Georgia, the Comox Valley is a distinctive collection of small communities, farms and forested areas located on the central east coast of Vancouver Island.

 

Campbell River

We are also your gateway to Strathcona Park, the Discovery Islands, and remote north and west Vancouver Island. In these renowned wilderness destinations, you'll find a world of mountains, coastlines, and islands just waiting to be explored.

 

Hardwicke Island

The fleet will tie up at the Lees Bay Farm, in Chancellor Channel, owned by Marine Harvest Canada. A private reception will be hosted in the warehouse courtesy of the BC Salmon Farmers Association.

Telegraph Cove

Voted one of the ten best "towns" in Canada to visit by travel writers (as published in Harrowsmith Magazine), Telegraph Cove is tucked away on the eastern coast of Northern Vancouver Island in one of the last virtually untouched areas of the North American continent.

 

Port Hardy

Port Hardy is the launch point for spectacular paddling areas appealing to all skill levels. From Beaver Harbour and its sheltered islands, and rugged Cape Scott with its 23 kilometers of sandy beaches to the archipelago of islands stretching across to the mainland, the diversity of the area will amaze you.

 

Winter Harbour

Winter Harbour is one of the most remote stops of the race It is a small fishing village with a very well sheltered harbour. During it’s hey day in the 1940’s the population swelled to 60, now less than 20 folks live here year round. A boardwalk extends along the waterfront connecting the residences. Driving to Winter Harbour from Port Hardy is 76 km. via a gravel logging road. Sailors will find fuel, water, small grocery/liquor store, laundry, limited showers and pay phones all close at hand.

 

Ucluelet

The Nuu-Chah-Nulth people have long used the word U-clue-let, meaning "safe harbour" and it is indeed an apt description for a village that offers both a sheltered inner harbour and magnificent vistas of the open Pacific Ocean within easy walking distance.

 

Victoria

Victoria has always had a history as a stronghold of British traditions. Double-decker buses, horse-drawn carriages, meticulously kept gardens, and the tradition of formal afternoon tea has contributed to the city’s long-standing reputation. However, over the past decade or so, Victoria has earned a reputation as a mecca for adventurers drawn by the limitless outdoor activities available in the city and throughout the Islands.
